Jamalpur Kalan villagers give suggestions at training camp

A three-day training camp, under the aegis of Panchayati Raj Department, commenced at Jamalpur Kalan village here today.

Regional Youth Welfare Officer Poonam Mishra; Gram Panchayat Officer, Roorkee, Vijendra Saini; Village Development Officer, Jamalpur, Amandeep Kaur; and Asian Development Bank Regional Officer Ram Pal Singh Bhatnangar apprised the panchayat representatives and villagers about the benefits of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Azad Gram Badlav Yojana.

Citing the main objectives of the camp, Poonam Mishra said the scheme intended to ensure direct participation of villagers in development projects.

“Mass awareness and linking villagers with local development is the prime objective of this scheme. Villagers and public representatives need to ensure their participation so that development takes place in time and for all. Suggestions are also sought from villagers regarding development of their respective village, which will be considered if found appropriate,” Poonam Mishra added.

Sushil Raj Rana gave several suggestions to the officials and also assured them of generating awareness among villagers about the scheme.

Anita Gobind, a social activist related with the Gobind Kripa Sewa Samiti, raised the issue of water logging, garbage disposal and cleanliness in Jamalpur village with the nodal officials.

Gram Panchayat member Rima Gupta, Kamlesh, Jagveer Singh, Rishipal, Subash Chandra, Dharmapal, Sanjeev Verma, Vinit Chaudhari and Jai Prakash also gave their suggestions at the occasion.
