Dehradun, October 10

Contractual employees of the Jal Sansthan held a protest rally in support of their demands here today. They said the state government took no action though they had submitted several memorandums to officials concerned and public representatives.

The agitated contractual employees under the aegis of the Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan Contractual Employees Association gathered at the Raipur bus stand and held a protest rally up to Secretariate. The protesters raised slogans against the government. The police had placed barricades and stopped them at the Kanak Chowk. The contractual employees sat on a dharna. They lamented that they were given false assurance that their demands would be fulfilled soon.

Mohan Purohit, state general secretary, Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan Contractual Employees Association, demanded that the state government should regularise their services.

He said the government should revise their salary and other perks. Purohit lamented that Potable Water Minister Mantri Prasad Naithani had given a false assurance to them that their demands would be fulfilled soon.

Sher Sing Rana, Vipin Uniyal, Rajendra Purohit, Brijesh Singh, Praveen Dobhal, Dev Singh Bisht, Shashi Kaintura and Prem Kukretti took part in the protest.
