Chandigarh, May 18

Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh has condemned the murderous attack on Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale.

While expressing relief that he escaped unhurt, he mourned the death of another person travelling with him. Amarinder demanded a "white paper" on the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab.

Reiterating that Punjab was heading towards "jungle raj", Amarinder said this reflected very poorly on the law and order situation in the state as the criminals had lost the fear of law. "The law and order situation is going from bad to worse and we are heading from chaos to anarchy under the Akali-BJP regime," he warned.

Congress Legislature Party leader Charanjit Singh Channi alleged that the government hand behind the attack on Dhadrianwale could not be ruled out because he was vocal against the government.

PPCC chief spokesperson Sunil Jakhar called the attack a failure of the police.
