INLD inciting people on SYL, says Vij

Health Minister Anil Vij has said that the INLD was inciting people to undertake digging of the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal so that the decision of the Supreme Court could not be implemented in a timely manner.

He said the state government had presented a strong case for construction of the SYL canal in the SC, which gave its verdict in favour of the state. Vij maintained the step taken by the INLD was not in the interest of the people of the state.

The minister alleged the Shiromani Akali Dal and the INLD were acting in collusion to hamper the construction of the canal. He said the state government would not allow them to succeed in their evil designs and ensure the state gets its share of river waters.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Labour and Employment Nayab Singh said the INLD was misleading the people of the state for its vested political interests. — TNS
