Ludhiana: Commerce students of Class XI from Ryan International School, Jamalpur, visited the Income Tax Office. The students witnessed the functioning of the department and interacted with Additional Commissioner Ritesh Parmar and other officers. The students were also shown a presentation by the department which was followed by a conference. They were made aware about the importance of paying taxes. Malika of Class XI said such visits enhanced their knowledge and satisfied their curiosity. The students had an overwhelming experience. Principal Gurpal Anand said they organise such educational visits to enhance the knowledge of students through experiential learning. The students also interact with various officials which fostered their confidence.

Lecture on mobile usage

Students OF Bhartiya Vidya Mandir, Kitchlu Nagar, were sensitised about the ill effects excessive use of electronic gadgets, as it leads to decrease in concentration, learning power and classroom attention. Students were advised to make rational use of gadgets. Principal Neelam Mittar asked the students to avoid spending much time using their mobile phones.

Workshop on speech

To improve the communication skills of the students, a workshop on speech was conducted at Ryan International School, Dugri. Resource persons for the workshop were Aastha Mehra and Priya Mehra. They conducted various activities in which students spoke in different tones such as in happy mood, sad mood, in anger or in excitement. The resource persons also told them about various gestures and expressions. All students enjoyed the workshop by participating in different speech and drama activities.

BCM felicitates sports stars

Students of BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, who carved a niche for themselves in state and national-level tournaments in different sports disciplines, were honoured by the school management today. A function was organised on the school premises in which around 280 students were felicitated. They were awarded trophies, medals and certificates of appreciation. Vikram Rathore, former test and one-day international cricket player, was the chief guest. He said sport activities must be an integral part of life and they inculcated values such as optimism and belief in one’s ability to face the challenges. Rathore appreciated the school authorities for providing the students with best-available sports facilities. School Principal Paramjit Kaur motivated the students to actively participate in sports. “Remarkable athletes, influential leaders, memorable heroes and dedicated coaches have always emerged out of those involved in sports activities. The outstanding achievements of the young players will guide them through out their lives,” she added. Capt. VK Syal, manager of the school proposed vote of thanks. —TNS
