Major projects for Una in 2 years: Dharmani

District Congress president Varinder Dharmani today said schemes and programmes worth thousands of crores of rupees had been sanctioned in Una district during the last two years of the Congress regime.

He was addressing mediapersons at the Circuit House here today. Dharmani said the Rs 922-crore project for the embankment of Swan river tributaries was sanctioned during the Congress regime and work estimated at Rs 135 crore had already been completed.

He said the country’s eighth Indian Institute of Information Technology was sanctioned for Saloh village, adding that while the work for construction of the building complex was being initiated, classes had already begun at the National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur.

He said during the last two years, 2,322 new persons were added to the list of social security pension beneficiaries.

Dharmani said the second Central School of the district was sanctioned in Saloh village and a multi-purpose complex estimated at Rs 45 crore for providing facilities to the devotees at the Chintpurni shrine was being constructed with financial assistance of Asian Development Bank. Besides, he said sewerage scheme was also being laid in Chintpurni.

The Congress leader said the government was committed towards ushering development in all sectors.
