Woman loses arm in freak accident

CHANDIGARH: In a freak accident, Anita, a resident of Sector 52, lost her arm while her husband Sharvesh suffered serious injuries, when a truck hit the auto in which they were travelling in the Industrial Area here this evening.

In a freak accident, Anita, a resident of Sector 52, lost her arm while her husband Sharvesh suffered serious injuries, when a truck hit the auto in which they were travelling in the Industrial Area here this evening.

The accident occurred at 8.30pm, near the slaughter house, when the couple was heading home after meeting relatives at Colony No.4. Eye witnesses said the couple was going towards Hallo Majra when the truck, coming from the opposite direction, rammed into the auto. Soon after the collision, Anita’s arm was severed and fell on the road while her husband sustained severe injuries.

The woman was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32 by the same auto-rickshaw driver, who escaped with minor injuries.

The Investigating Officer said the woman was later referred to the PGI.
