In 16 days, 114 dengue cases in Sangrur

As many as 114 dengue-positive cases have been detected in 16 days of September from various parts of the district.

Of these 114 positive cases, the maximum cases (73) were detected in Sherpur health block of the district, followed by 17 from Sangrur block, nine from Fatehgarh Panj Grian block, eight from Dhuri block, three from Bhawanigarh block, two from Longowal block and one each from Malerkotla block and Sunam block.

All these patients were declared positive for dengue after Mac Elisa or NS1-Ag tests. Out of the 73 dengue-positive cases from Sherpur block, 55 patients tested positive in Sherpur town. So, Sherpur town is the worst-affected area.

The remaining 18 dengue cases were reported from Khanauri Kalan, Kalabula, Bhagwanpura, Kherri, Sheharpur, Bugra, Eina Bajwa and Harike villages of Sherpur block.

On the direction of higher health authorities, Assistant Civil Surgeon (ACS), Sangrur, Dr Surinder Singla today visited Sherpur and reviewed the arrangements for patients.

He said that the OPD wing of Sherpur hospital collected 28 samples of suspected dengue patients on Sunday.

It collected 61 blood samples on Saturday. These 89 samples would be tested for dengue at Civil Hospital, Sangrur, tomorrow, he said.
