SONEPAT, JULY 26

It was a moment of joy for residents of six villages- Lath, Joli, Bidhal, Katwal, Bhainswal Kalan and Bali Brahmanan— when Haryana Social Welfare Minister Kavita Jain today announced that the state government had accelerated the process of acquiring land of these villages for setting up an Industrial Model Township (IMT).

She was addressing a public meeting at Joli village. “A delegation of a Chinese company had already visited the area and expressed keen interest in the project,” she said, adding that the state government was also making efforts for setting up a rail coach factory in this township.

She exhorted the villagers to make the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao programme a success to bring allround development in society. She reiterated that the government was committed to the welfare of farmers.

State BJP vice-president Rajiv Jain alleged that earlier Congress government in Haryana was working like a property dealer. He assured the villagers that there would not be any discrimination in the name of area or party in launching of development works.

It is mentioned that the state government had issued notices under Sections 4 and 6 during 2013 for acquiring 6,600 acres in these villages. However, the delay in taking further steps for land acquisition and change of government in the state disillusioned the farmers of these villages who got the impression that the land would not be acquired. Farmers of these villages also knocked at many doors for not dropping the IMT project of IMT.
