Elderly block road over pension

Several elderly persons raised slogans and block the road at Geeta Nagri colony at Ambala City this noon when the employees of municipal corporation failed to turn to disperse their pension.

The agitators, including some handicapped and widows, had gathered at the Geeta Nagri chowk after being informed that MC employees would disperse the pension here this morning. They raised slogans against the MC and blocked the main road of the colony. Some of the shopkeepers informed the local MLA about it.

Meanwhile, Mayor Ram Mal and Rajesh Mehta, municipal commissioner, reached there and assured them that they would get their dues would be cleared soon. Joint Commissioner Kamalpreet Kaur also reached there and pulled up the erring employees. Pension was distributed later on.
