Haridwar, June 15

Khanpur Assembly segment Congress legislator Kunwar Pranab Singh Champion today alleged that he was being deliberately cornered by his opponents, who were filing various cases against him.

Champion, in a media statement, said the registration of a case against him and his supporters by Roorkee police at Civil Lines police station over alleged firing at a function to felicitate his son, shooter Divya Pratap Singh, is one such case.

He said his son Divya had come after winning a medal in double trap shooting competition held in Finland and as a proud father, he had organised the felicitation function.

Kunwar claimed that firing had been his passion, though for sports purpose, and it’s normal for persons of royal lineage to fire in celebration, whether it be at a wedding or at a victory procession.

Station House Officer Vinod Tevatia of Roorkee Civil Lines police station said the police had registered a case against Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion and his supporters for firing at a public function last week.

He added that the police are investigating the matter and evidence has been taken from the venue arena.
