Husband held for abetment to suicide

A newly married woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her room at Mamta village last evening. The police have arrested her husband for abetment to suicide today.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Kangra, Ashok Verma, said Lata, 25, was married to Rajeev of Mamta village on December 15, 2015, and was allegedly tortured by her husband.

The SDPO said her husband’s family members said she was found hanging in her room and was rushed to Dr Rajinder Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda, where doctors declared her brought dead.

He said the parents of the victim alleged that she was mentally tortured by her husband from the day one of her marriage.

They alleged that she was murdered and later on hanged in the room by her husband.The police have registered a case of abetment to suicide under Section 306 of the IPC and arrested the victim’s husband.
