Dharamsala, March 2

Officials of the HPCA today celebrated the election of Anurag Thakur as secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). They also burst crackers.

Addressing a press conference here today, Sanjay Sharma, HPCA spokesperson, said it was an honour for Himachal that Anurag had been elected to the post of secretary of the BCCI. His selection would help in promoting cricket in North India.

Vishal Marwah, secretary, HPCA, said Anurag, as HPCA president, should get all the credit for bringing up an international-level cricket stadium here and other cricket stadiums in Hamirpur and Bilaspur districts. It was due to the infrastructure created by him that national and international-level matches were now being organised at Dharamsala.

He said many state players were now playing cricket as professionals in state or IPL teams. Many students were adopting cricket as a profession and getting training from experts at the local cricket stadium.
