Hit by car, biker dies

A 23-year-old biker was killed while another motorcyclist was seriously injured in a road accident on the Chandigarh-Ambala highway last night. The deceased has been identified as Rinku Sharma, a resident of Jawaharpur village near Dera Bassi.

According to police sources, Rinku was killed when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a rashly-driven Swift car (HR 08 R 7131) near Haldiram fast food joint on the highway. The incident occurred around 9.30 pm when Rinku, along with his brother, was on his way back home. The car driver fled from the spot, leaving his vehicle behind.

The police said due to the accident, another motorcyclist suddenly applied brakes following which his motorcycle skidded on road, leaving him injured.

Rinku’s brother Rajan Sharma rushed him and the other injured to the GMCH, Chandigarh, where doctors declared Rinku brought dead. A case has been registered.

Rinku is survived by his wife, a three-year-old son and a two-month-old daughter.
