HC starts e-filing, gets Wi-Fi complex

The Punjab and Haryana High Court today became the first in the country to have a fully Wi-Fi complex. It also inched towards becoming a paperless court with the introduction of e-filing facility.

The new Wi-fi and e-filing system was inaugurated this afternoon by Justice Hemant Gupta who is also the chairman of the court’s computer committee.

Describing it as “a great step towards technical upgrading and modernisation”, Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association’s Honorary Secretary Saurav Khurana said it would provide enhanced professional environment to the lawyers and would help both advocates and the litigants.

The court has been working on various fronts to enhance its efficiency to keep pace with the changing trends and technology and to live up to the expectations of the changing world. With a vision to provide all possible facilities to litigants, Bar and other stakeholders, the high court has been working on various plans. Some of the recent initiatives which will yield dividends in the near future include, paperless courts, e-filling for all type of cases, arbitration centre, visitor centre, multi-level parking, food court, additional administrative area, new judges library and SMS acknowledgement of filling, objection, copy and judgments.
