BK Srivastava, the inquiry officer appointed by the Punjab government to investigate the alleged corrupt practices of the former Deputy Controller of Local Audit (DCLA) of Punjabi University, Patiala, held the second round of interrogation here at the guest house.

Several teachers of the university got their statements recorded against DCLA Kartar Singh. Members of the Punjabi University Re-employed Professors Association (PURPA) held a meeting to review the situation. Professor Jaswinder Singh, while releasing the proceedings of meeting and inquiry, said “The re-employed teachers are demanding a comprehensive and detailed inquiry into the ‘organised corruption’ in the university.” He said apart from DCLA Kartar Singh, many other officials of the university and members of the ad-hoc committee were involved.

He said they had documentary evidence to prove the connivance of former registrar, finance officer, DCLA, some teachers and employees, who were the part of the complaint against the re-employed teachers. He said, “Now, it has been proved beyond doubt that the opposition to re-employment scheme was based on the revengeful attitude of the corrupt elements.”

They alleged huge sums had been collected from helpless teachers and employees at the name of changing the notification dates of New Pension Scheme and for continuing previous service for promotion.
