Chandigarh, September 11

Kazakhstan national and Haryanvi bahu Zhanna Timurovna Chalabayeva (34), married to Teenu Jangra (23), a village youth from Samain in Fatehabad, today met Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj at her official residence in Delhi to thank her for her support in extension of her visa.

Accompanied by her husband, Zhanna called on Swaraj to express her gratitude.

She had tied the knot with Teenu Jangra at the Vishwakarma temple in Tohana on June 2 after a brief friendship on Facebook.

But Zhanna’s tourist visa was till July 31 and there was no option left for her but to return to her country.

Reading about Zhanna’s predicament on the social media posted by Teenu’s friend, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had tweeted in Haryanvi as well as in English: “Thari Bahu Ne Kaho Visa Badhan Khatar Arzi Daal De, Hum Uski Madad Kar Diyange. Pl apply for visa extension. Will help.”

“Though I went to my country before July 31, but my visa was extended immediately, thanks to the help extended by the minister,” said Zhanna, who recently returned after a brief visit to Kazakhstan. — TNS
