Haryana plans tabling ordinance for AYUSH univ in K’shtra

Decks are being cleared to establish state’s first AYUSH university in Kurukshetra.According to Health Minister Anil Vij, an ordinance would soon be introduced to upgrade Shri Krishna Government Ayurvedic College here into a university.
He said the proposed university would be first of its kind in the country.
“Cabinet has approved a proposal in this regard and the Shri Krishna AYUSH University would have courses of all the systems of AYUSH. The institute is expected to be functional soon with various facilities,” said Vij in a statement.
The minister said it was proposed to start undergraduate and postgraduate courses in all AYUSH systems including Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy.
These would include surgery, anatomy, physiology and ‘panchakarma’, among others.
Students from other states would also be able to study in this university, said Vij.
Established in 1975, the Shri Krishna Government Ayurvedic College has an annual intake capacity of 50 students in BAMS and D. Pharma (Ayurvedic) programmes, respectively.
The medical college records an annual average of 30 thousand patients in the outdoor patient department (OPD).
At present, one Homeopathic and 10 Ayurvedic colleges are functioning in the state, including two government colleges.
These are affiliated with Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak. However, it is proposed to affiliate all the 11 colleges with Shri Krishna AYUSH University, the Health Minister said.
