Dehradun, April 29

The Governor, Dr KK Paul, today nominated Gregory Mann as the 71st member of the fourth Legislative Assembly of Uttarakhand.

While exercising his rights vested in the Constitution (Articles 333 and 334) as the representation of the Christian minority in the present Assembly was inadequate, Governor Dr KK Paul nominated Mann as the 71st member of the Assembly.

He will be the lone nominated member of the House that has 70 elected MLAs.

The practice of setting aside one seat in the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly was started by former CM ND Tiwari.

Gregory Mann is the owner of Carman School. Earlier, RV Gardner was nominated twice — in 2002 and 2012.

Karen Hilton was nominated by the BJP government in 2007.
