The Haryana Government will set up a corpus to provide immediate relief to members of the Scheduled Castes, who become victim of atrocities under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who was presiding over a meeting of the State-level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee here, today directed the officers concerned to set up this corpus. He also reviewed the status of prosecution of cases registered under the Act and other schemes under the Protection of Civil Rights Act 1955.

He also ordered relaxation in the time limit up to three years to submit applications for availing financial assistance being given under the Mukhyamantri Samajik Samrasta Antarjatiya Vivah Shagun Yojna. Under this scheme, a financial assistance of Rs 1.01 lakh is being given to a non-Scheduled Caste boy or girl, who married a SC girl or boy.
