Dehradun, December 2

State BJP’s coordinator for the Parivartan Yatra Balraj Passi today said people in rural areas had welcomed the decision of Narendra Modi-led Central Government to scrap the high denomination currency notes.

“During the course of our Parivartan Yatra, we met people in Ukhimath and Joshimath. They were happy with the decision,” said Passi, while addressing media.

He said the canard spread by the Congress and the PCC president about people facing difficulties in rural areas was false. “It was aimed at inciting people and spreading false propaganda,” said Passi.

He alleged that three years after the 2013 disaster, small hoteliers and businessmen loans had not been waived.

Passi said the yatra had received an overwhelming support. He also accused Chief Minister Harish Rawat of patronising corruption in the state. “The Chief Minister has become a brand ambassador of corruption. Under him, corruption has been institutionalised,” he alleged. The Parivartan Yatra, almost in the last leg, will see several Central ministers addressing the rally, including Union Home Minister on December 10 in Bhagwanpur, Union Water Resource Minister Uma Bharati on December 3 and 4 in Raniketh and Bhawali, respectively. — TNS
