Governor NN Vohra and First Lady Usha Vohra attended “Jashn-E- Buniyad”, the quasquicentennial celebrations, of the Alexander Memorial School here today.

Congratulating the school management, teachers, alumni, students and members of the staff on the occasion, the Governor observed that 125 years of functioning of the school was truly a historic occasion for an institution which has become known for its contribution to the promotion of education in the state. He described it as an occasion to look back, with rightful pride, on the achievements of the institution and to also think about the milestones to be covered in the coming years.

He said the Central government had been devoting high importance to school education and there were several Central schemes which provided assistance to the states for it.

While these schemes have led to significant advancement, a great deal still remains to be done to enlarge and upgrade the standards of teaching at the school level.
