If there were 25 hours in a day, Punjabi music director Vikas Bhandari aka Dj Flow would have still felt the need to add another hour to it! “Or even more,” he says it as a matter of fact. This young lad, born and brought up in Italy, has created wonderful Punjabi tracks starting from the recent one by singer A Kay, Tuti yaari to Foto jatt di, which has been sung by Gippy Grewal.

Italian connection

Yes, (smiles and then .laughs), sounds unbelievable? I am a Punjabi born and brought up in Italy. I moved to India because of my intense interest in Punjabi music.

It all started

For almost 16 years I have done deejaying in Italy. Thereafter, I moved to India in 2012 and two of tracks Goli by Arsh Benipal and Foto jatt di by Gippy Grewal became real hits. This is when I got recognition.

They all have their style, and all are doing pretty great.

My influences

Yes, I have always liked and appreciated and also been inspired by the works of Amar Singh Chamkila, Swiss Beatz, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Gurdas Maan and Debi Makhsoospuri.

The best moment

When I saw people in Italy go crazy listening to Punjabi fusion music.

Negative note

People in the Punjabi music industry don’t believe in making trends, they only follow trends. If one track is a hit, everyone else starts following the same. There should be freshness in music.

My kinda style

I don’t conform to any style, I can make all kinds of music from dubstep, electronic, trance to R& B.

Favourite list

I think every singer has justified my work, but I have loved how Gippy Grewal sang Foto Jatt Di; he has done complete justice to the track.

I am coming up with my debut solo track as a singer. Not many people know that I am singer; it’s just that I started production first.
