GNFC School overall Hindi debate champ

MUSSOORIE: Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary (GNFC) School was declared the overall champion of the 22nd Sardar Sarmukh Singh, Gurpal Kaur and Narendar Singh Memorial Inter-School Hindi Debate championship, organised under the aegis of ‘Sadbhavana’, a social organisation, in Mussoorie yesterday.

Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary (GNFC) School was declared the overall champion of the 22nd Sardar Sarmukh Singh, Gurpal Kaur and Narendar Singh Memorial Inter-School Hindi Debate championship, organised under the aegis of ‘Sadbhavana’, a social organisation, in Mussoorie yesterday.

Wynberg Allen School stood second while Saraswati Bal Vidya Mandir was declared third in the event that went on for almost three hours.

The topic for the debate this year was “Social Sites, Whatsapp etc are becoming a cause of stress among families.”

In the individual category, Deepansh Javrani from Wynberg Allen School stood first. She spoke against the motion while Gaurav Kaushal from GNFC stood second, Kaajal Tamta from Saraswati Vidya Mandir stood third, Saksham Garg from GNFC fourth while Manpreet Kaur from GNFC stood fifth.

As many as 24 students from 12 schools spoke for and against the motion.

Rana and Naveen Tripathi were the judges.

Naveen Tripathi highlighted the shortcomings of the students in context of modulation, presentation and diction. Former MLA Jot Singh Gunsola and Municipal Council president Manmohan Singh Mall were the chief guests. They highlighted the importance of public speaking and shared their experiences with students.

Harbhajan Singh, Anuj Tayal, Sandeep Agarwal, Javed Khan, Nandlal, Sameer Shukla, Ramesh Jaiswal, Javed Khan, BP Kukreti, Sandeep Aggarwal, Sunil Goyal, Dhanprakash Agarwal, Santosh Arya and other members of NGO Sadhbhavna were present on the occasion.
