Give priority to girl child education: CM

Parents should give added attention to girl child education as educated women play pivotal role in educating the society, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said it while addressing a gathering at Bagdaar in Bhattiyat assembly constituency of Chamba district.

“Education is the base of any developed society and the government has given priority to imparting quality education to the youth”, he stated adding that a number of schools and colleges were opened in far-flung areas of the state so that girls could get education at their doorstep.

Virbhadra Singh announced upgrade of government middle school, Dhalog, to high school; primary schools, Khuin and Rangad to middle schools; and upgrade of middle schools Mathaloo, Kharera, Kahari, Saloh to high schools.

The Chief Minister announced opening of a primary health centre (PHC) at Garh in gram panchayat Chuhan and health sub centre at Kandei in gram panchayat Samleu.

Virbhadra Singh said Himachal had witnessed economic revolution mostly in villages due to road connectivity. The government always gave importance to construction of roads to ensure development of the people.

He also inaugurated newly constructed Bagdhaar-Khuin road falling in Bhattiyat and a lift water supply scheme to cater to the population of around 5,000 inhabitants of 20 villages including Dhar Janoli, Nagali, Nuhin, Bagdhar, Baroh, Khuin, Dalog, Bannu, Bassa, Kanyarka, Patti, Sohar, Ulled, Nagali, Dalog, Sudli and Mornu of Bhattiyat constituency.

HP State Pollution Control Board chairman Kuldeep Singh Pathania crediting the development of the state to Virbhadra Singh and said that it was due to successive Congress governments that the state was one of the model hill states in the country.

Earlier, the Chief Minister dedicated a centrally heated 50-bedded hospital at Dalhousie to the people completed with an outlay of Rs 3.10 crore. He directed the PWD to construct a mortuary, a parking lot and a canteen at the hospital. While taking cognizance of dilapidated condition of municipal roads in Dalhousie hill town, Virbhadra directed PWD department to repair the roads at the earliest.

Forest Minister TS Bharmouri, Dalhousie MLA Asha Kumari and HP State Pollution Control Board chairman Kuldeep Singh Pathania were also present on the occasion amongst others.
