Girls again shine in Class X, XII exams

The Uttarakhand Board of School Education (UBSE) has declared the Class X and Class XII board examination results today. The girls again outshone boys in high school and intermediate examinations.

Prashansa Pokhriyal from MP Hindu Inter College, Ramnagar, stood first in the state by scoring 97 per cent in high school, while Priyanka Bhatt from Hargobind Suyal Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Haldwani, topped by scoring 95 per cent in the intermediate examination.

Giving details about the results at the UBSE office, Ramnagar, Nainital, RK Kunwar, Director, UBSE, said 78.41 per cent cleared the intermediate examination. The boys’ percentage was 73.55, while 83.14 per cent girls passed the intermediate examination.

He said 73.47 per cent cleared the high school exams. The 76.54 per cent girls and 70.48 per cent boys passed the examination.

Kunwar said Vijaylakshmi Goswami from PPS Vidya Mandir stood second with 94.20 per cent while Reena from AVMIC School stood third by scoring 93.60 per cent in the intermediate examination.

The second position was bagged by Prabhakar Singh from VMHS, Ranikhet with 96.80 per cent, while Vipul Sharma from MHKGIC, Kotdwar, stood third by scoring 96.60 per cent in the high school examination.

Among all districts, Bageshwar and Rudraprayag districts stood first in terms of passing percentage in intermediate and high school examinations.

Out of 1,35,648 students, 1,33,064 appeared in intermediate examination, while out of 1,67,022 registered students, 1,62,000 students took high school examinations. The board set up 1,317 examination centres in Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of the state.

Governor KK Paul congratulated all students who have passed in the Uttarakhand Secondary Board Examination. He congratulated the students who are in the merit list. The Governor will honour the toppers of the examination at the Governor’s Toppers Award function at Raj Bhawan, Dehradun.
