Jaipur, August 25

A 19-year-old college girl, arrested on charges of extorting a businessman on August 17, has alleged that she was gang raped by the same man, said to be son of a Haryana MLA, and his three colleagues in a Jaipur hotel on August 8.

In her FIR lodged with the Vidhyak Puri police station on Saturday, the victim, who studies at one of Jaipur’s top girl colleges, alleged that one Jitendra (47), Pawan and their two other colleagues took her to a hotel located on MI Road, where she was raped on August 8 evening, the police said.

Jitendra, said to be son of a Haryana MLA, used to call her and send obscene SMSes and videos on her mobile phone. He had called her up to meet on August 8.

“A case has been registered and the Assistant Commissioner of Police, South, is investigating it. The victim’s statement will be recorded and she will be sent for a medical examination,” said a senior police officer of Jaipur Commissionerate.

The girl, hailing from Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan, was arrested here on August 17 for allegedly extorting Rs 25 lakh from Jitendra on August 8, an officer of North-DCP office said.

The girl had come in contact with Jitendra a couple of years ago and used to talk to him frequently.

When she demanded Rs 18 lakh more, Jitendra informed the Galtagate police here and she was caught red-handed while taking Rs 2 lakh. The police also recovered Rs 25 lakh from the girl and arrested her.

After getting bail, she filed a counter FIR against Jitendra.

A case under Sections 376D and 386 of the IPC has been lodged against the accused. Both cases have been assigned to ACP, South, Ramgopal Sharma for investigation, the police officer said.

When asked whether the accused was the son of a Haryana MLA, the officer said: “There is a link but this is to be probed as the victim has not mentioned the name and address of the man’s father in Haryana.”
