Patiala, January 21

The Punjab Front led by AAP MP Dr Dharamvira Gandhi and the Aapna Punjab Party (APP) headed by Sucha Singh Chhotepur have forged an alliance for six Assembly seats out of eight in Patiala district. Earlier, talks between the outfits for a state-level alliance had failed, following which both had announced to contest the elections separately.

Front candidates Kulwinder Kaur and Gursewak Antal will contest from Shutrana and Ghanaur, respectively. APP will field its nominees from Patiala Urban (Akshinder Singh), Patiala Rural (Shaminder Kaur), Nabha (Jarnail Singh Akalgarh) and Rajpura (Rajinder Rana). Dr Gandhi has withdrawn his nomination from Patiala Rural and Chhotepur from Ghanaur.

Dr Gandhi said, “We have made an arrangement in Patiala district so that the anti-incumbency vote doesn’t get divided. It’s a symbolic fight aimed at keeping alive the dream of clean, issue-based politics in the state.”
