Following complaints of overcharging and misbehavior by the contractor of the multi-level parking complex at the Mini-Secretariat, Rajat Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, has blacklisted the contractor and decided to hold fresh auction next week. This will be the fifth auction of the complex this year.
The Deputy Commissioner said: “I have received complaints from visitors about overcharging as well as misbehavior by the contractor. We have called fresh tenders. The auction will be conducted on December 26 under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Khanna, at the DC’s Court Room. The present contractor has been blacklisted, so he will be not allowed to participate in this auction.”
He said after getting a successful bidder, we will cancel the present contract. The present contract is for 2014-2015 with a sum of Rs 64.15 lakh. The DC said: “After getting the contract, the contractor started violating the terms and conditions of the contract. One of the conditions was that parking slips would carry the details of service tax, fees and time. But it was found that the slips were not having all these details. For this violation, he was fined Rs 10,000 and issued a show-cause notice many a time. However, he replied to none. We kept taking action against him and his employees from time to time. After a complaint of misbehaviour with some visitors, we got an FIR registered against his employees.”
