Fraudster held with 14 rubber stamps

The Kotwali police arrested a fraudster with 14 fake rubber stamps of government departments here today. He has been identified as Ajay Sharma.

According to information, the police was tipped-off about Sharma, who was staying in the Yatri Niwas at the railway station. SSP Sweety Agarwal formed several teams to arrest the fraudster. The police teams led by SHO Kotwali SSI Sanjay Mishra cordoned off the railway station area and started a search operation. Sharma tried to run away after he noticed police teams approaching him.

The police chased him and arrested him. The fraudster was brought to police station for interrogation. The police seized 14 fake rubber stamps of different government departments, including ACJM, Moradabad, schools and colleges, Income Tax Department etc. and fake driving licenscs, Aadhar cards, certificates of registration of vehicles etc. The investigation revealed that Sharma was running a finance company in Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh). He was sent to the jail.

29 unlicensed arms seized

The police have impounded 29 unlicensed country made arms and ammunition in different cities of Garhwal and Kumaon since the model code of conduct was imposed for the Assembly elections in the state. Of the seized weapons, the maximum number of arms and ammunition (14) were seized in Udham Singh Nagar district. The police seized eight knives from eight men, while three country-made pistols with three cartridges were seized in Udham Singh Nagar district. In Dehradun district, the police arrested a man with a country-made pistol and a cartridge, while six men were arrested with knives and a khukri. A man was arrested with a country- made pistol and a cartridge while four persons were arrested for keeping a khukri in Haridwar district. Another man was arrested with a knife in Tehri Garhwal district.
