DEHRADUN: Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat was left stranded at Kedarnath in Rudraprayag district due to inclement weather conditions.

Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat was left stranded at Kedarnath in Rudraprayag district due to inclement weather conditions.

He was accompanied by Kedarnath Congress MLA Manoj Rawat and Rajya Sabha MP Pradeep Tamta. The helicopter that was to fly the former CM back from Kedarnath could not take off due to inclement weather condition as the region was experiencing continuous snowfall and rains.

A spokesman disclosed that the former Chief Minister was stuck in Kedarnath due to inclement weather conditions and a contact with him could not be established due to poor telecommunication connectivity.

Meanwhile, continuous snowfall was taking place at Kedarnath shrine leading to cold wave conditions in the entire valley. The former Chief Minister, who is on a tour to Chamoli and Rudraprayag district of Garhwal hills, is in Kedarnath to have a look at the reconstruction works. The rehabilitation and reconstruction activities at Kedar valley began during his tenure. Rawat had said that he would go to Kedarnath to check BJP claims of reconstruction works and would point out anomalies, if any.
