Chandigarh, May 2

A day after the daring daylight robbery at Forever Diamonds, a jewellery store in Sector 17, the UT police questioned employees of the store and also sought their personal details.

The former staff of a call centre, which was earlier set up inside the jewellery store, is also under the police scanner. The call centre, that was shut in January, was just outside the safe room.

Police teams investigating the robbery of diamond and gold jewellery worth Rs 14 crore, are in the process of questioning persons who used to work at the call centre.

A police official said since the call centre was outside the safe room, employees working there must have be aware of where the jewellery is kept. “The DVR (digital video recorder) of CCTV cameras was also installed outside the safe room,” said the police official.

The CCTV footage of the cameras installed at the entry of the rear parking lot has also been procured by the police to look for vehicles that left the parking lot soon after the incident.

A day before the robbery, the miscreants had visited the store around 3 pm. The police are now scrutinising the CCTV footage of nearby places. The call detail records of various persons are being scrutinised by the police.

The police have also sought the details of bank accounts of the employees working at the jewellery store.
