The CRPF Director General (DG) today rejected Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar’s claim that the CRPF convoy which came under attack in Pampore on Saturday had not followed standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Speaking to mediapersons, CRPF chief K Durga Prasad said the stipulated procedure was followed, but there was a need to take a fresh look and see ways to improve SOPs.
He gave details of counter-measures to be used by CRPF convoys to safeguard soldiers during ambushes.
“Our SOPs are being followed, but we need to look at how best we can improve the existing SOPs,” he said.
“After the attack, we started looking at the type of arrangement the Army has. Army buses have bulletproof material or sheets, which are about three feet high. We are looking at the same arrangement,” he said.
