Fire breaks out in basement of SCO

A major tragedy was averted this morning after a fire broke out in the basement of an SCO in Sector 34-A. No loss of life was reported in the fire incident. Computer parts and furniture were destroyed in the fire.

The fire and emergency wing of the Municipal Corporation received a call at 9.14 am about the fire in the basement of SCO 58-59 in Sector 34-A.

Four fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The showroom housed offices of visa consultancy, IT solutions and computer parts.

Firefighters controlled the flames within 40 minutes. According to fire and police officials, the fire was caused due to a short circuit in the ceiling of shops in the basement. According to officials, computer parts of Deepak Communications were damaged in the fire.

Staff, students rescued

The firefighters rescued staff and students, who were present in the building when the fire broke out. According to the firefighters, there were five people there, who were immediately guided out the SCO and thereafter the fire was controlled.

Area cordoned off

As there are a number of offices in Sector 34-A, people gathered outside the SCO as soon as news about the fire in the building spread. To control the people, the police cordoned off the area and nobody was allowed to come close to the building.
