A major fire broke out in wild vegetation on the premises of Deen Bandhu Chhotu Ram thermal power plant, Yamunanagar, on Thursday afternoon. Three fire tenders were pressed into service to control the fire.

Sources said the fire was reported on the thermal premises at about 3 pm.

It broke out in wild vegetation and the fire tenders took about three hours to control it.

Chief Engineer AK Sood said he visited the site where the fire broke out and it seemed the fire might have taken place outside the boundary wall of the thermal power plant and it later entered the premises.

“We have taken stock of the situation and the fire caused no loss. The plant is safe as the fire was far away from the place where the fire broke out,” said the Chief Engineer.
