State Revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia has said he would fully cooperate with the Enforcement Directorate to put an end to the “witch-hunt” launched by his political rivals.

“I was not at home when the summons were delivered at my residence. I contacted the ED official on the phone and directed my staff to receive the summons.”

The minister said he wanted the truth to surface and the malicious campaign against him to cease. “I know I am innocent but am being subjected to a media trial. Certain leaders, including Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa, have even gone to court, but failed to furnish any evidence against me. Now, they are trying to create a wrong perception about me through the media. All allegations are baseless and are not backed by evidence”.

Majithia said he was for a thorough probe into the matter. “Five central investigating agencies under the Congress-led UPA rule probed the allegations levelled against me but found nothing against me,” he pointed out. He said a PIL filed by a few Congress leaders against him was dismissed by the HC and the petitioners told not to politicise the drug menace issue. — TNS
