Fake testimonials: FIRs against 20 teachers

School Education Minister Arvind Pandey on Monday ordered registration of FIRs against 20 teachers who were accused of submitting fake testimonials, while seeking appointment in the department, by the SIT.

Pandey issued these orders based on the recommendations of incharge, SIT, Shweta Chaubey. The minister said that after verification of the documents of 42 teachers, the SIT has recommended registration of FIR in 20 cases, while investigation in 22 cases is going on.

Further, on the complaint of Deputy Education Officer, Bahadarabad, the minister also ordered transfer of two clerks Pawan Kumar and Manoj Chauhan. The two clerks were said to be non-cooperative in the inquiry.

Notably, the Uttarakhand government had ordered an investigation by SIT after it was found that some of the teachers appointed in primary schools as well as in inter colleges in the past five years had submitted fake educational documents.

The SIT was provided with the service records of 7,047 teachers appointed between 2012 and 2016. In all, 10,485 documents were also submitted for the purpose of verification. Further, complaints against 365 teachers were also received from various sources, out of which 161 complaints have been disposed of. Verification of documents of all those teachers, who joined between 2012 and 2016, is still on.
