‘Faith healer’ arrested for raping minor

The Satwari police today arrested a “faith healer” on the charges of rape from Miran Sahib in the RS Pura subdivision of Jammu district.

The accused has been identified as Bal Krishan, 30, of Nandpur in Miran Sahib.

The police said Bal Krishan used to “hypnotise” young girls and women for healing their ailments.

Claiming himself to be a god man, he also used to “bless” married, but issueless couples, with children.

Once hypnotised these girls and women were allegedly molested and raped by Bal Krishan, said the police.

Elaborating further on his modus operandi, the police said Bal Krishan used to call young girls and women near a banyan tree during wee hours (around 4 am) to free them from the influences of evil spirits.

Bal Krishan was today arrested from his residence in Miran Sahib after a 15-year-old girl lodged a complaint of rape before the Satwari police yesterday.

A case under Sections 376 of the RPC has been registered against Bal Krishan at the Satwari police station.
