Congressmen-turned-Akalis Deepinder Dhillon from Dera Bassi and Harinder Pal Singh Mann from Samana joined back the Congress on Monday. Both claimed it to be an unconditional returning to the Congress.

Addressing a press conference, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee chief Amarinder Singh said both the leaders had joined without any condition. Capt Amarinder Singh said everyone was not being welcomed in the Congress. “There is some criterion to select candidates. ”

The SAD had on Sunday expelled Dhillon and Harry Mann for their “anti-party activities”.

Party spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema had said it was found that these leaders did not deserve a place in the party as they were engaged in destabilising it from within in spite of being given prominent posts.

Cheema alleged Dhillon was given the party ticket for parliamentary elections and made chairman of the District Planning Board, Patiala, and party president of Patiala (Rural) unit, but he chose to indulge in anti-party activities. Similarly, Mann was appointed Information Commissioner, he said.
