Jalandhar, March 28

Members of the Education Providers Union will meet Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in connection with their demands on Monday. Members of the union declared this at a state-level meeting held at the house of education provider Rajni, who suffered a miscarriage last Saturday, following police detention.

They reiterated their demand for action against ASI Bhupinder Singh who picked up Rajni from her home. They said their prime demands included jailing the police officials responsible for Rajni’s miscarriage and the officials who picked up teachers across the state besides regularising their services.

Union activists said in case the government failed to accept their demands, they would hold a state-level protest march in Jalandhar on April 2. State president of the union Ajmer Aulakh also reiterated the demand for the resignation of Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema.

State action committee member Harjinder Singh Khehra said, “Not a single FIR has been lodged or arrest made so far. The police say they are investigating the case. Police officials have assured us of a meeting with the CM on Monday. We have decided to wait on for the meeting in the hope that our demands will be met. In case, the government does not relent, we will hold a protest march in Jalandhar on April 2.
