Srinagar, December 16

The Doctors Association Kashmir has lashed out at the Kashmir Police for their failure to nab the accused involved in the recent acid attack on a law student.

“The inaction of the police against the accused makes us believe that social evils in our society are promoted in a well-planned conspiracy,” the doctors’ body said in a statement today, while flaying the police inaction to nab the culprits involved in the case.

On December 11, a 21-year-old law student was injured in an acid attack by two car-borne youths outside her college in Nowshehra, who are at large and are yet to be identified.

As per the eyewitness accounts, the assailants after throwing acid on the girl fled from the scene in a white Maruti 800, which had no registration number plate. The only clue is that the car had words “Mansa” pasted on its rear windscreen.

“The statement made by the police that they were busy in elections and had no time for such a heinous crime is outrageous…. We fail to understand this irresponsible statement of the police that their priorities are politicians and other citizens are meaningless and useless for them,” the association said.

The doctors’ body has urged the people to stand up against this act and restore eroded social and moral values to prevent such attacks in future.
