Chandigarh, April 4

Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal expressed deep shock and grief over the demise of Mata Chand Kaur, wife of former Namdhari head late Satguru Jagjit Singh, who was shot dead by unidentified assailants this morning.

Sukhbir said he had given directions to the DGP to nab the culprits at the earliest.

In his condolence message, the Deputy CM said Mata Chand Kaur lived an exemplary life and dedicated her whole life preaching teachings of Gurbani and serving the Namdhari darbar. Describing her murder as one of the most cowardly act, he said the culprits responsible for this heinous crime would not be spared.

Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh too condemned the incident, saying it was a dastardly act of cowardice. Hoping that culprits will be identified and arrested at the earliest, Amarinder said it was tragic that Mata Chand Kaur, who dedicated her entire life for the noble cause of serving the humanity, herself fell victim to brutal violence.
