It’s that time of the year again when tension, stress, anxiety and sleepless nights become constant companions of parents seeking admission for their wards to city schools.

The already pounding pulses are set to increase the heart rate further as the race to grab a seat in the best city school starts tomorrow with the draw of lots.

St Kabir Public School, Sector 26, is the first school among the top 10 to go in for the draw tomorrow. The four convents will hold the draw on January 18. Vivek High School, Sector 38, held its draw of lots on December 26 and has already displayed the list of selected candidates on its website.

Meanwhile, most of the schools today displayed the list of eligible candidates on their official websites.

Notably, this year, Bhavan Vidyalaya Junior Wing, Sector 33-D, received the most number of applications for admission to the entry-level class. The school had received 1,945 applications as against 100 pre-nursery seats, which was followed by 1,848 received by St Anne’s Convent, Sector 32, which has 225 seats in LKG. The number three slot in terms of most-sought after school was bagged by St Kabir Public School, which received 1,500 applications for 90 seats in nursery class.

Important dates

January 16: Eligible candidates’ list will be displayed on the notice board, school website

January 24: Finalisation, display of selected candidates, waiting list

February 10: Deposit of fee for selected candidates

February 15: Deposit of fee for candidates selected out of waiting list

February 28: Last day for submission of application forms for EWS
