Gippy Grewal looks lean, rugged and muscular; after all he is playing a criminal character Shinda in his soon to release Punjabi film Faraar. The actor who would actually be seen in a double role had to slog hard in the gym for this look. His look-alike in the movie Ekam, however, is a simple, honest and innocent boy from Punjab who goes to LA, but is arrested by the police. The story unfolds on how Ekam proves his innocence in the action-thriller. “The movie has the treatment of an English film, but it has the desi touch,” Gippy says.

Produced by his elder brother Sippy, Gippy shares that he was involved in the project right from the beginning. “A lot of planning and homework went into the movie beforehand,” he says. "Because of the movie was completely shot in the US, we had to manage the budget of the movie well. This is perhaps the first Punjabi movie in which workshops were held. Proper sketches of each character were made. Jaggi who plays the negative character in the movie was trained and made to get into the mindset of Kaptaan," he said.

Sharing his experience about doing Bollywood movie Second Hand Husband, he said that the movie did not turn out as he had expected it to be. “Though working in Bollywood was a good experience, but I did not enjoy the movie after watching it,” he says.

Jaggi Singh said that he has played smaller roles in a couple of movies including Mirza, but he has got a new beginning as he plays a strong negative character in the movie. “Punjabi movies have not had a villain of the likes of Amrish Puri or Amjad Ali Khan, but in this movie the villain would be strong,” says Gippy.
