DGCA team visits Katra

A team of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) reached Katra today to find the cause of yesterday’s helicopter crash which claimed seven lives.

The team, headed by Assistant Director, Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, Ravi Chandran, collected samples from the crash site and also talked to several eyewitnesses.

Governor NN Vohra, who is chairman of the Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, took up the matter with the DGCA for an immediate inquiry on Monday afternoon. The team will submit its report after three days. Meanwhile, students held a candlelight march in Katra to pay a tribute to the crash victims. The students observed a two-minute silence and prayed for the victims. They were accompanied by locals, schoolteachers and other staff members.
