Una, March 18

The local unit of the BJP today organised a rally against the alleged mafia rule in the state today. The rally named as ‘Akrosh Rally’ was addressed by Leader of the Opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal, BJP state president Satpal Singh Satti and Lok Sabha MP Anurag Thakur.

Dhumal said mining, forest, transfer and drug mafias had thrived during the Congress regime.

Referring to the rampant illegal drug trafficking, Dhumal said thousands of youths had fallen prey to drugs. He said the BJP had received confirmed reports that many youths had died due to drug overdose in Una district, particularly in Haroli.

The former Chief Minister said the Congress government was responsible for transforming the image of Himachal Pradesh from ‘Dev Bhumi’ to ‘Drug Bhumi’, adding that the illegal drug trade issue was enough to defeat the Congress.

Satti called upon the party workers and the general public to defeat the vested interests of various mafias and help strengthen the social fabric. He said the non-performance of the Congress government and insensitivity towards the prevailing issues would lead to its defeat in Himachal Pradesh.

District BJP president Balbir Bagga, former MLA Balbir Chaudhary and BJP leader from Haroli Ram Kumar were also present.
