Despite the police having the video footage of a youth dragging a 22-year-old Dalit girl, who was allegedly raped on March 25 at Kandukhera village, no arrest has been made in the case so far.

The area falls in Lambi. The fear-struck victim has left her house and is now staying at her relative’s house in Muktsar town.

According to the FIR, the girl, who worked at a computer centre at Malout, was forcibly abducted by Jagdeep Singh and one other person in a car from outside the institute on the Indira road. She was allegedly taken to a house at Tappa Khera village, where they allegedly sexually assaulted her. Later, they dropped her at Malout.

A relative of the victim today said, “The police have been shown the video footage of Jagdeep forcibly taking away our daughter, but no action has been taken against him and his accomplice so far.” DSP Manwinderbir Singh said, “We are conducting raids to arrest the accused.” — TNS
