Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh, an accused in cases of murder and sexual assault, failed to appear before the CBI Special Court here today.

Earlier, he used to appear before the court through video conferencing. His counsel had on Friday moved an application seeking extension of his stay where he had gone for the promotion of his film. The court had directed him to cut short his visit since the court had granted him permission till July 3 only.

Apart from him, all the other accused were present in the court.

In the Ranjit Singh murder case, Sheela Punia, principal of a a Sirsa based girl’s college recorded her statement today. The Ram Chander Chhatrapati murder case will now come up for hearing on July 18.

The witnesses in the sadhvi sexual abuse case have been summoned to record their statements in the court on on August 12.

However, the court turned down the application of the dera chief seeking extension for his stay abroad till July 24.
