Depts ready for power point presentation

Uttarkashi District Magistrate Dipendar Kumar Chaudhry today reviewed the progress of the power point presentation made by various departments under the Bhagirathi eco-sensitive master zonal plan to be presented in front of the Chief Secretary on August 26.

The DM directed the officials to come up with a complete sectoral plan ofdevelopment projects in the Bhagirathi eco-sensitive zone along with power point presentation during the meeting. He expressed dissatisfaction at the Municipal Council of Uttarkashi for not preparing the power point presentation for the amended zonal master plan as yet.

The livid DM directed the Executive Officer of the Municipal Council to prepare the complete zonal master plan within one day. He directed the PMGSY, irrigation, agriculture and UJVNL departments to gear up for the meeting and come fully prepared.

It is worth mentioning that the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest on December 18, 2012 had declared the area of around 4,179 square kilometers from Gaumukh to Uttarkashi as eco-sensitive with an objective to preserve the environment, affecting around 88 villages of the district.

Nodal officer for the Zonal Master Plan SDO Forest Department Babulal said the state government had presented a zonal master plan on March 2016 but the monitoring committee set-up by the ministry had returned the plan asking to present it again with suggested amendments. The power point presentation would be done first in front of the state government on August 26 under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary and subsequently the same presentation would be held on August 31 in front of the Environment and Forest Ministry at Delhi. CDO Udai Singh Rana, District Development Officer Anad Singh, Agriculture Officer Mahidhar Tomar and others were present on the occasion.
