Dentist jumps off fourth floor, dies

A 31-year-old woman dentist (BDS) allegedly jumped to death from the fourth floor of a residential complex in Sector 68 here this morning.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 11.30 am at Darshan Vihar in Sector 68. The victim, Divya Sood, daughter of a retired Colonel, died on the spot. She was residing at her parents’ flat, located on the third floor in the Darshan Vihar residential complex here.

Inspector Pawan, SHO of the Phase VIII police station, said the victim was upset. “Divya was married, but her divorce case was going on for the past three years. She was also not getting a job,” said Inspector Pawan.

He said the victim took the extreme step after serving breakfast to her father. “After serving breakfast to her father, she went to the fourth floor and jumped from there. A neighbour saw Divya’s body lying on the floor. The neighbour told the victim’s parents that she might have been knocked down by some vehicle. During our investigation, we came to the conclusion that she jumped from the fourth floor,” said the police. No suicide note was found from the spot or the house of the victim.

Inquest proceedings have been initiated in the case.
